Influenster: Aussie Box

I got the following products, free of charge, from Influenster, in return, I am going to provide an honest review of the following products that I received. I repeat, I paid NO MONEY, for these products, they were complimentary from Influenster, in return for an honest and fair review of them.

Like two weeks ago, I got an email from Influenster wanting me to fill our some kind of pre-product survey to see if I qualified for a certain Vox Box. I had totally forgotten about it, forgotten I had even filled out the survery, heard nothing from them, nothing about whether I qualified or didn't qualify, so I was quite surprised to find this in my mailbox today:

So this took me completely by surprise.

This is what was in the box, two full-size hair products from Aussie.

I love hair products, I hate my hair. Texas heat and humidity and naturally curly hair that has a tendency to frizz, really don't mix. In fact, the only time I can slightly tolerate my hair is when I pay to get a keratin treatment for it, which I do maybe 1-2 times a year because it makes my hair somewhat manageable.

I was also not blessed with an ability to style hair. I can't braid without it looking stupid. I can't do anything that looks nice like a messy bun or some sort of fancy pony tail or half up/half down look, which means my hair is usually up in a clip and in a head band to keep it out of my face.

Plus, I swim 5/7 days a week, as a workout, and chlorine and hair are definitely not bffls.

Therefore, this box is a welcome box, in hopes that it can tame my evil hair.

I actually really do like Aussie products. I used to use their shampoo and conditioner, as well as their mousse for quite some time. My fiance still used their mousse.

I had an ex, who ONLY used Aussie hair products, and I would drive to his apartment, in Philly, every other weekend, sometimes every weekend, for almost a year, and that's what he had in the shower, so I used it for my hair, as well, and I was always pleased with the things it did to my hair.

So Aussie and I have a history, you could say.

I received Instant Freeze Hairspray, full-size, worth $3.44, and Sprunch spray, worth $3.44, as well, also full-size.

I'm excited to try both these products, I've never been much of a hair-spray type girl, I tend to prefer gel or mousse, but I'm eager to see how these do with my hair. I hope the sprunch spray can help me hair stay curly without frizz, pending Texas humidity goes away, and I hope the hairspray can maintain my updo.

So that was my Vox Box.

If you're interested in getting a Vox Box, feel free to check out Influenster, it's 100% free, and you can get free samples and/or full-size products. I've gotten three Vox boxes since I've joined.

October Birchbox

First of all, with Birchbox, it's a seriously a hit or miss sort of deal. I've been getting Birchbox since August, and some of the stuff I've gotten was great, other of it was meh, which brings me to my October box:

Most of this box was meh. I enjoyed the chapstick because you can always use chapstick, but I wasn't impressed with the lipstain, it reminded me of strawberry jello. I was indifferent about the other products, HOWEVER, I NEED TO RAVE ABOUT DEVA CURL.

I have CRAZY UNRULY CURLY HAIR AND I HATE IT. It frizzes, it never looks good down, I feel like it looks like a fro, and I've done so much in my life to try to fix my awful hair such as bleach it, dye it, Brazilian blowout it, and use keratin treatment on it. They were all temporary fixes.

I had heard about Deva, but I'm cheap, and didn't want to spend money on something I had never tried. So I was super excited when birchbox decided I should get a sample of their three-step curly hair treatment.

I tried the sample before fiance and I went to the Texas Renaissance Faire. Texas is hot and humid, and the Renaissance faire is all outdoors, so it was the perfect chance to prove it's worth.

It was amazing. It was a hot and sunny day, and my hair stayed perfect curled and bouncy until I got sweaty and threw it in a ponytail. I took a cute picture of my fiance and me, and I got tons of compliments when I posted in on facebook about how awesome my hair was.

I gave it a second try when I went to the aforementioned rock concert with my fiance. It was an outdoor festival, tons of people, tons of jumping up and down, and tons of body sweat. My hair stayed wonderful, and again, I took a picture because I'm desperately in need of cute couple pictures for my Holiday card I haven't made yet, and got more compliments on my hair.

Then I gave it a third try [the sample was huge] when I went to a professional development with co-workers, who had never seen my hair down [I rock the messy bun look], and they started playing with my hair and telling me how great it looked down and how it was like Barbie hair.

SOLD.

I bought the full-size trip of shampoo, conditioner, and gel. I'm not a fan of the smell of the shampoo or conditioner, they're not bad, I just don't like them, but I LOVE THE SMELL OF THE GEL, IT'S LIKE GREEN APPLE JOLLY RANCHERS.

I wore my hair down today, the first time all year, and we've been in school since August, and my students told me I looked like a princess.

Totally worth the fifty bucks I spent, a lot cheaper than a keratin treatment, and photo friendly. If you have crazy curly hair that you can't stand and do anything and everything in your power to get rid of it, TRY THESE PRODUCTS, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.
